The following are the main risk factors that may increase the chance of developing monarchs:

  • Obesity and significant weight gain, especially during youth.
  • Drink alcohol, either in moderation or in excess.
  • Some types of drugs that may raise the level of uric acid in the body.
  • Middle-aged men, postmenopausal women.
  • The presence of one of the family members infected with monarchs.
  • Eat plenty of foods rich in purine, such as red meat.
  • Some medical conditions such as high blood pressure, kidney disease, thyroid disease, diabetes, and sleep apnea.

King's disease may result in other, more dangerous developments, including kidney stones and recurrent gout, which leads to progressive damage to the joints and surrounding tissues.

There are many lifestyle and diets that a person can follow to prevent themselves from gout, including:
